Engineered Boards
Engineered boards perform better than solid planks and are available in a broader range of thicknesses and widths, providing a stable plank up to 320mm wide, suitable for use over underfloor heating and not requiring acclimatisation on site prior to installation. Engineered planks are ideal in situations where humidity and temperature can vary dramatically such as Orangeries, garden rooms, conservatories, kitchens and bathrooms.
We have a comprehensive range of engineered boards to suit all applications and most are available bevelled-edge or square-edge and in various thicknesses, widths and lengths. The following finishes may also be available depending on the product; Sanded, Smoked, Sanded & Oiled, Brushed & Oiled, Sanded & Lacquered, and Aged. Some examples are shown below, please click on the thumbnails for a larger image.
Engineered boards can be constructed in different ways and at different price points. Some are designed to minimise cost and waste by utilising narrow, short pieces on the face veneer and softwood for the core and backing veneer but others are manufactured with the aim to emulating the look of solid timber whilst giving you greatly enhanced performance and these are solid veneers bonded to plywood making them perfect in Conservatories, kitchens, bathrooms, over underfloor heating, and other applications where solid wood would not be suitable, consequently these can often me more expensive that solid timber because they are better and have the additional benefit of maximising the efficiency of the raw material consumption.
